In its fourth generation, the Jeep Wrangler is a line of small to mid-size off-road SUVs with four-wheel drive that Jeep has been producing since 1986. The latest generation of Jeep Wranglers, the JL, debate towards the end of 2017 and is manufacture at the Toledo Complex.
The World War II Jeep and the CJ (Civilian Jeeps) made by Willys, Kaiser-Jeep, and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the middle of the 1940s until the 1980s are the direct ancestors of the Wrangler. Both the CJ Jeeps and the conceptually consistent Wrangler, with its solid axles and open top, have been calling the Jeep model, as central to Jeep’s brand identity as the rear-engine 911 is to Porsche. This is true even though neither AMC nor Chrysler (after it acquired AMC in 1987) have claimed that the Wrangler was a direct descendant of the original military model.
Manufacturing
Jeep YJ vehicles were produce at the Toledo South Assembly plant after being produce at Brampton Assembly from 1986 to 1995. Rectangular headlights were a key change between the 1987–1995 cars and the TJ and later JK versions, which went back to round headlights.
Wrangler’s manufacturing was relocate to the Toledo Complex in 2006. The grille’s angle distinguished Wranglers manufactured after 2006 from those manufactured before. The grille was level and parallel to the front fenders on all earlier models. The grille of the more recent Wrangler was design to angle outward from the top and then to continue straight downhill from the midway point.
